Series 50 Fixed Panel Operation and MaintenanceOperationThere are no operations involved with this unitMaintenanceCleaning AccessIf the rear glass surface is not accessible via an adjacent opening unit the whole unit must be removed. A full risk assessment must first be made and it is recommended that a minimum of two people are involved. Using a flat bladed putty knife or similar, carefully prise the clip-in cover bead from its pocket and expose the frame fixings. Remove these from the entire perimeter and using glass suckers carefully lift the window away from the opening. Refitting is the reverse of removal but new fixing points may be required.CleaningThe cleaning cycle will be dictated by local conditions and should consist of washing down the glass and aluminium with a non alkaline detergent in warm water using a soft cloth. For more stubborn marks on the aluminium a soft brush or nylon pad should be used. Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, strong acids or alkalis. After cleaning it is advisable to rinse the surfaces with clean water and then wipe dry. Chips or scratches in a paint finish can be touched in using a matching non cellulose paint. Repair of anodised finishes is not practical other than by touching in with a colour matched paint verse of removal ensuring the glazed sash is returned in the same positionReglazingThe glass is bonded to the aluminium and the glazing pocket is formed from a two part bead. Should the glass be broken refer to Selectaglaze for advice on re-glazing |
