Operation

Sash Removal
A full risk assessment must first be made. It is recommended that a minimum of two people are involved. The unit is fitted with one lockable catch and, dependent on size, one or more "sliding catches" which ensure compression of the seals. Operate the key lock and whilst holding the sash in position release the sliding catches. Gently tilt towards the room, lift to clear the locating pin(s) in the bottom section and stand against a secure structure. If the sash is constructed from annealed (non safety) glass, it must not be left standing at low level if other people are in the vicinity without a warning sign or suitable protection. When reinstating the sash, carefully lift if on to the locating pin(s). Push into place, fully engage the sliding catch(es) and finally operate the lock.

Maintenance

Cleaning Access
Refer to operating instructions.
Cleaning
The cleaning cycle will be dictated by local conditions and should consist of washing down the glass and aluminium with a non alkaline detergent in warm water using a soft cloth. For more stubborn marks on the aluminium a soft brush or nylon pad should be used. Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, strong acids or alkalis. After cleaning it is advisable to rinse the surfaces with clean water and then wipe dry. Chips or scratches in a paint finish can be touched in using a matching non cellulose paint and care must be taken not to get this into draught seals or moving parts. Repair of anodised finishes is not practical other than by touching in with a colour matched paint but the finished appearance is seldom complementary.
Lubrication
The sliding catches should be cleaned and lubricated occasionally to ensure smooth action.
Locating Pin(s)
Inspect after sash removal to ensure that there is no damage or distortion. Replacement pins are available from Selectaglaze.
Re-glazing
The glass is bonded to the aluminium using a glazing tape and advice should be sought from Selectaglaze before re-glazing.
