Selectaglaze has launched a new product enhancing the company’s Hinged Casement range. The Series 41 features a glazing bead located inside the cavity between the primary and secondary windows which effectively removes the “clutter” from the internal aspect of the building, giving designers a clearer canvas with which to work. It has the added advantage of eliminating dust gathering ledges, thus making it ideal for a cleaner environment – particularly for hospitals and laboratories. The new unit has also been designed to accept sealed unit glazing, effectively providing triple glazing. In this format The Series 41 has provided a calculated u-value for the window of circa 1.7W/M²K – which far exceeds the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations. Purpose made secondary glazing is often the only way to introduce contemporary working and living environments into listed, historic or landmark buildings. It also allows a building to be upgraded gradually rather than having to invest in all windows being replaced in a single “hit”. Units arrive fully assembled to allow rapid installation with minimal disruption and very little maintenance thereafter. Selectaglaze has commissioned comprehensive independent research demonstrating the capability of their units to reduce heat loss and control noise. Details are available on request.
