Selectaglaze is committed to pursuing its business having regard to the environmental consequences of its processes and actions. Key areas for attention include avoidance of waste through careful purchasing and processing procedures, recycling of waste, use of recycled materials, waste management and energy efficiency.

Materials

The key materials used in production are aluminium and glass. Computerised optimisation programmes ensure that these are purchased in a manner that minimises waste. Softwood timbers and mdf are used wherever possible for subframes and grounds. This is purchased from sources which are regulated and managed in a sustainable way. Company promotional material and letterheads are printed on re-cycled paper.

Waste and recyling

The Company recycles aluminium, glass and paper. Aluminium is melted down and reused. Glass cullet is either used in the glass manufacturing process or in the production of other building materials.

Other waste materials are collected in licensed skips for removal by a registered waste contractor.

Packaging

Packaging is limited to card protection for aluminium inputs and tape protection only to the windows during delivery and installation.

Energy

The Company seeks to reduce its use of energy through specification of energy efficient products and adherence to maintenance cycles. The Company’s product will make a significant contribution to reducing the energy needs in buildings.

The Company regularly reviews its impact on the environment and modifies its policy as appropriate.
